Plockton High School Fosters Academic & Personal Development in a caring & Challenging Environment so that each individual can achieve his or her full potential

Parents and Pupils - Welcome

Some of the pupils who join us will have brothers or sisters who have already gone, or are going, through the school will know quite a lot about Plockton High already.

Perhaps the major change from Primary is that you study a range of individual subjects and meet some fourteen teachers in the course of the week.  You will join an institution of over 350 pupils and students.

Communication between home and school, is in my opinion, the most important issue.  Please do not sit at home wondering or worrying about what is happening at Plockton High School.  Come and ask.  A telephone call is often sufficient and clarification from the teacher is always safer than relying on pupil responses which can be confused and difficult to follow.

What we expect of our pupils can be expressed quite simply. We expect them to work hard and behave well.  I feel sure the standards applied in that statement are standards very similar to those expected by you within the family.

We do our best to meet the needs of each individual within the school and in turn we expect each individual to do his/her best to complete the tasks satisfactorily.  I would urge you to ensure that your child takes every opportunity to participate in the life of the school, giving full attention to classwork and to extra-curricular activities so that he/she derives full benefit from all that is on offer in our school.  Parental support is invaluable in encouraging youngsters to become involved in new activities and to persevere with activities which are proving difficult.

I greatly appreciate the efforts made by parents to help with supervision or in collecting pupils to allow after-school participation or one of a number of ways.  I am sure such support will continue as parents appreciate the value of these 'extras' for their children.
